Quaker Hill Farm 4th month, 2007 News

As difficult as it is for us to believe, we woke up to 8 inches of snow this morning even though it is 4th month, 12 (April 12)! We were not prepared for it and have spent the larger part of the day with a power outage. I am greatly relieved that we held back breeding season last fall until December - babies born in this weather wouldn't have had a fair chance for survival.

The maple trees are running again and we may have one more chance to make a bit more maple syrup. What a blessing!

The day did give us a chance to indludge in a favorite pioneer passtime - making sugar-on-snow or snow candy. We scaled it down and took pictures of it for our readers so if thee would like to learn how and perhaps even enjoy making a homeschooling lesson out of it, thee can create a lesson and eat it too! Read and learn about this unique pioneer candy here.

Blessings & Peace,
