Adopt a Sheep
Unsure if there would be interest, we decided to offer
an Adopt-a-Sheep Program - just to try it - and we
have been amazed by the enthusiastic response. People just love it!
Many of our customers and workshop participants dream
of owning a farm in the country someday and having their very own flock of sheep.
They are especially enthusiastic to work
with such beautiful and versatile fleeces as are from pure Border Leicester and Cotswold sheep.
Now, anyone, anywhere can have the personal
experience of owning
a sheep or lamb for themselves through our special Adopt-a-Sheep program.
When you adopt a sheep, you are helping to preserve an American sustainable living farm and homestead.
Look at what customers say about our Adopt-a-Sheep program:
This is just a unique and wonderful opportunity! I am so excited to receive a fleece to
work with from one of my very own "girls". Thank you so much for all of
your hard work! - Jennifer M, North Carolina, adoptive mother of Miss Mary
This program means so much to me. I love to spin but just do not have a
means of keeping my own
flock of sheep. The processed roving is just beautiful!
- Maggie R, New York, adoptive mother of Pretty Pearl
There are many choices to consider when adopting a sheep.....
1. Think about the color and qualities of the wool you would like to work with. We have colors in white, black and shades of grey.
Our Border Leicester and Cotswold sheep produce fleeces of exceptional quality, with locks 6 - 9 inches long,
but each breed is unique to itself so be sure
of your project goals. Please note, the grey fleeces
are dimply wonderful for over-dyeing!
2. What form would you like your fiber to arrive in? Would you like raw fleece so that you can wash and card it
yourself? Or, would you like it to arrive as roving ready to spin? Read the Descriptions & Details below
to find out
what options are available.
3. Carefully consider the the fiber project that you have in mind and select accordingly.
4. Would you prefer fleece from a lamb or
fleece from an adult - or perhaps both?
5. Lamb or adult, you will receive interesting updates throughout the year.
